On 23 January 2017, one of our Directors Melisa Money attended a PRINCE2 course and has been successful in becoming PRINCE2 qualified.

PRINCE2 qualification tackles project management through 4 collective elements of principles, themes, processes and the project environment. Principles of PRINCE2 training are the regulatory requirements and good practices which determine whether a project is genuinely being achieved using PRINCE2 methodology. There are seven principles of PRINCE2 which are:

  • Continued business justification
  • Learn from experience
  • Defined roles and responsibilities
  • Manage by stages
  • Manage by exception
  • Focus on products
  • Tailor to suit the project environment

Unless all of the principles are applied to a project it is not a PRINCE2 Project.

The course was a combination of both PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner. It was held in Leeds and involved 5 days training.

The PRINCE2 Foundation is a good way to introduce you to the basic methodology and terminology of PRINCE2 which once completed is the first step to completing the PRINCE2 qualification.  This was completed in 3 days.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner provides you with the knowledge of how to manage a project within the PRINCE2 environment and maximise the effectiveness project.  This was completed in 3 days.

Melisa said “the course was very intensive and included a lot of pre-course reading as well as continued study throughout the week. It was very worthwhile and gave me a good understanding of PRINCE2 and how this can be tailored to different project environments. It was also a good opportunity for me to network with other business associates”.

Directive Training plan to offer PRINCE2 training locally in the near future.
